Straighten Me Out I

My hair is thick and dries wavy, meaning I have options available to me in terms of styling, but the most simplest thing for me is keeping it straight.

For years, I thought the only way to get my hair straight was by blow-drying. Ugh.

You know, gentlemen, how nice and cool and refreshing it is after having a shower?

Blowdrying ruins all that. By the time one is done, another shower is needed, being all fashvitzed and exhausted. If Shabbos turns out to be humid or rainy, all effort is for naught as  the hair frizzes (at least, mine does).

The discovery that would change my life happened quite by accident.

My cousin was visiting, and she finally arrived after battling a serious downpour. While she came in, shaking off a dripping umbrella, I gazed in awe at her hair.

"How is it that it is not frizzy?"

"Hair iron, of course."

The celestial angels sang.

It never occurred to me to try a hair iron.

I started to research.

There are two primary types of hair irons; those with ceramic plates, and those with tourmaline. They both have benefits, so the ideal iron has both.

I went cruising on Amazon, basing my selection on customer reviews. One of the most highly adores is the Remington S-9400 Tstudio Collection Digital Ceramic Hair Straightener with Tourmaline 2 1/4" Wide Plates.

Duuuuuuuude.

It doesn't have over 100 five-star reviews for nothin'.

I accidentally singed my forehead on the first use, but this baby made my layers rock.

The instructions in the manual incorrectly described how to activate the "lock" feature, which is necessary as accidentally pressing the "-" and "+" buttons are very easy. To lock, press the "-" button for three seconds; the lock image will appear on the screen. To unlock, press the "-" button again for another three seconds.

ooh man, be careful with the iron!
you can do some serious damage to your ends. i should know.
some products you might want to try:
organix brazilian keratin treatment oil. you put a little in damp hair befor eyou bolw dry, adn brush through. it makes my hair CRAZY soft, with really nice shine and highlights (its not highlighting my hair, just makes it healthy for the highlights to be seen.)hair comes out beautifully without ironing.
if you expect the weather to be a little more intense (humidity) i like John Frieda three days straight. you spray it into damp hair, blow your hair dry, and then flat iron it in. last shabbos was SOOOOO hot and humid, my hair would have fluffed and curled in minutes. but with this, by sunday my hair was still smooth and straight. crazy magic stuff.

I'm surprised you only just discovered a hair iron...I've been using one since I was in middle school...

I recommend the ceramic thin ones, like the chi, because you can also curl your hair, its very simple and you get very nice natural waves.

I only got into the makeup and hair thing when I was 20. I'm new to this.
