Could it be possible that he's so nice? I thought. His charm. His consideration. His chivalry. Ah, kismet!
For a few dates I was squired about by the stereotypical knight. He insisted on opening car doors, he constantly inquired as to my comfort, everything I said was witty. I basked in the glow that is an attentive male's admiration.
Then on the next outing, however, the troll from under the bridge showed up at the door, late. Eyes wild, scruff partially shaved. Snarling and crabby, judgmental and nitpicking.
He still insisted on opening the car door, though; that was the only way I could connect this orc with the dashing Lothario that had wooed me beforehand.
As he discouraged conversation with blaring music on the drive back, I pondered on his slipping mask. Where art thou Galahad?
What really rattled me was the sense that I had been had. A betrayal, if you will. I thought I knew him, as a guy who could suck it up.
Apparently not.
I hate to be made a fool of.

just my 2 cents speaking from the male perspective sometimes your not 100% yourself on every date (could be a bad day at work, sick, major headaches) and if you like the guy give him the benefit of the doubt it was an off night and not his usual self.
Give him one more shot- sure. But if he seems to be insincere, etc- run the other way and thank Hashem you saw his true self PRIOR to commiting to this guy.
No one is perfect and everyone has "off" days, perhaps this is one of his...?
No more shots! Big Red Flag there. I don't care if he was having a bad day or not. The fact that he was the polar opposite from what he showed on the first date is scary.
Run, don't walk, to someone worth your while.

Yeah, that all ends after you're in a real relationship. Eventually he'll start passing gas and giggling in front of you. That's when you know he takes your companionship for granted.
Here's the deal, Anon: If you are in such bad shape that you will verbally abuse the girl you are going out with, cancel the date. Claim the flu, I don't care.
And I get to say, "See ya," if you show up and treat me like dirt.
