I've just got a huge to-read pile at the moment (a product of getting free books at work and doing my retail therapy in the books section of charity shops). Which one would you recommend to start with?Daniel Saundershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07087956908558706584noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6017927177231080668.post-72314067700208216942016-03-28T10:10:37.624-04:002016-03-28T10:10:37.624-04:00To quote Brene, imperfection is not inadequacy. When I was a child, perfectionism was a coping strategy to deal with unfair criticism, bullying and neglect and I've carried that over into my adult life, including my religious life. As you say, HaShem wants progress, not perfection. I was actually thinking that exact thought today, but it can be hard to hold on to it. I feel I have to be 100% perfect or else I've 100% failed, whereas the reality is more complex.Daniel Saundershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07087956908558706584noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6017927177231080668.post-20185177142640375552016-03-25T09:45:29.752-04:002016-03-25T09:45:29.752-04:00Halakhah doesn't demand perfection. Except that I struggle to like myself, and have the years in therapy to prove it. I'm trying to get to a point of realizing that I'm imperfect, but OK, but it's hard to get there when I feel halakhah wants me to be perfect.Daniel Saundershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07087956908558706584noreply@blogger.com
