Even They Had Skin Regimens!

The Jewish Week had a review of the book Biblical Beauty: Ancient Secrets and Modern Solutions.

C'mon, you knew my ears would perk at that.

The reviewer, who was raised Christian but converted to Judaism, mentions how in her background painting oneself is automatically a sin of Jezebel; however, our five books rather encourage it.

It seems Devorah HaNiviah and I have a lot in common. You know why she sat under a tree? To preserve her complexion from the sun.

I totally have to get this book!

To preserve her complexion from the sun? lol...For real??

That's what the book says! Makes sense, no?

Yeah, but what kind of sun protection does a palm tree offer you?

Constantly sitting in the sun fries the complexion, prematurely aging the skin. The parasol and broad-rimmed bonnet used to be constant female accessories to shield facial skin.

Only Americans consider tanned skin to be attractive. In every other one, the lighter the skin, the better. No woman wanted, once, sun-darkened skin.

Me, I just don't want wrinkles and sunspots, so I slather myself in SPF and dodge the sunlight.

What do vampires and woman have in common? :)

Vampires are cool-blooded and women are bloody cool.

Erm, no, they just both avoid the sun.

It was funny in my head.

I suppose we both avoid garlic breath as well?

Cool factoid about Devorah, I wonder if she ever got hit by something siting there ? My best skin care for dry skin is an ancient recipe of lemon juice brown sugar and honey. It leaves skin soft ans can even remove hair if left to become sticky , I will do a post about my other pantry secrets.
: )
