US news is so much more informal in presentation than British news!
I've only ever been in one selfie, which technically I didn't take (so not exactly a selfie) - I was at a restaurant with my family and Mum wanted to take some photos. I couldn't really say no. But I agree about focusing on the experience not the selfie. A while back I went on a spontaneous walk around the London Bridge area. My Mum said I should have taken photos with my camera, but I didn't really need to. The experience was enough.
