It's a toughie. Here it's good to remember that not everyone is alike.
For me, I never dated anyone seriously besides Han. Most of my dates were only one outing, I had a couple of twos, and only one three. That's when I found out the guy was a sociopath and I bolted.
I honed in early on what was or wasn't acceptable behavior, or that our personalities were just waaaaay off.
But other people can make connections with all types, and so narrowing in on a life partner is more difficult.
Ok, so in your experience, Han already stood out for having gotten past the initial 2-3 dates. But after that, having never dated anyone else for that length of time, how did you know or when did you know he was the "one"?
In my case, I was pretty smitten right off the bat. I'll admit he wasn't in the same place as I was—he did break up with me, after all—but when he called back he was all in (he says).
What makes it so confusing is how no one is the same, and relationships progress differently for different people. I still don't know what made him call back and end up in the same place as I was.
How can you know after 10 dates? How do you know when you know? This is what I want to know.
ReplyDeleteHow does one know if someone is or isn't for them, do you mean?
ReplyDeleteYup. Something I've been struggling with.

I guess I'm kind of useless on this topic.
