Ah, telephonophobia. Phone anxiety, it's a real thing.

The best chulent is made with the fewest beans. or when the beans have been pre-soaked in water twice.

Some people add whole eggs to their chulent, including the eggshells.

The quality if the chulent is also proportional to the amount of time it spent on top of the fire.

If the chulent contains bones, it should ideally simmer until the bones become soft.

Hahahahahahaha! OMG, I can barely breathe!! This is so apt!!! I used to make my little sister call the taxi company for me whenever I needed one :) To this day, my husband laughs at my ridiculous aversion to phone calls. For me, conversation just flows easier when I have facial cues & body language to feed off of; the dead nothingness of a telephone does nothing to help me... I dread the idea of a stilted back & forth, or the inane babble to cover the awkward lulls. Even though by now I have learned to easily hold forth, that old feeling is still as strong as it used to be...

SPDR: "telephonophobia"? I was hoping for a cooler, Latin-er label.

Golly, yes. I called someone recently (with shaking fingers and deep dread) and she urged me to stay in touch. I weakly said I would. But I can't bring myself to call her again. I desperately need facial cues & body language!
